Last Sunday of August

 The barrel rolling race is an ancient tradition callekg wine barrels along a kes place in Montepulciano Tuscany, on the last sunday of August. The city's"Contrade" quartiers ompete for the prize a painted banner, by rolling 80 kg wine barrels along 1.8 km unphill course.

An exciting race to the last breath. There are eigth contrade: Cagnano, Collazzi, La Coste, Gracciano, Poggiolo, San Donato, Talosa and Voltaia.

During the last week af August you can see others interesting events like the Candels Procession and the Proclamation by the Gonfalonier and the presentation of the Banner, painted every year by a different artist.
